Our Story

From the Valley of Dreams to the World of Grace: The Journey of Surkhaab Ethereals

Surkhaab Ethereals was born not just out of a love for modest fashion — but from a deeper longing to weave stories of heritage, identity, and quiet elegance into every thread.

Founded by a Kashmiri woman with a background in veterinary science, global health, and special education, our brand is rooted in resilience and beauty — the kind that blooms in silence, just like the valley we call home. After years of working in education and healthcare, and having walked paths that combined both empathy and science, I felt a calling — a soulful tug — to create something that truly reflected my roots and values.

Surkhaab, a poetic name for the mythical bird known for its rare beauty, was the perfect symbol. And Ethereals? That captured the feel — garments that are timeless, weightless, and crafted with meaning.

How It All Began

It started with one scarf — a swirl of mulberry silk in soft lilac, made in Kashmir, wrapped with a story. Friends admired it. One asked for a name. Then another. Soon, I found myself building a palette of colors that mirrored Kashmiri gardens, winter skies, and dew-covered meadows.

Each name — Gul-e-Kamal, Yemberzal, Gulab Kong — carries the scent and soul of the land. And each drop is curated with love, from label to loom.

We grew from an Instagram idea into a brand that now connects artisans in India with homes across the UK and beyond.

Our Values

• Modest Elegance: Designs that honour Islamic values without compromising on beauty.
•Heritage-Centered: Every piece carries a part of Kashmir — its art, nature, and storytelling.
•Sustainability: We use natural fibres like mulberry silk and wool, supporting slow fashion.
•Comfort-First Selection: We only stock what we would comfortably and proudly wear ourselves.
•Women-Led and Heart-Driven: From ideation to creation, the brand reflects a woman’s journey of faith, strength, and creativity.

Looking Forward

Surkhaab Ethereals is still growing — just like its founder. We’re learning, adapting, and expanding — exploring new fabrics, community collaborations, and global shipping options. One day, in sha Allah, we hope to build a studio that trains and empowers women artisans — especially from vulnerable or forgotten areas — keeping traditions alive, stitch by stitch.
